Osaka Expo 2025 – International Pavilion Support & Local Partnership Facilitation
Challenge
As international participants prepared to bid for or begin work on their pavilions at Osaka Expo 2025, many faced similar barriers: difficulty navigating local regulations, limited access to qualified Japanese suppliers, and challenges with budget alignment, language, and procedural norms. Successfully entering the Japanese market for such a high-profile, multi-year event required more than technical expertise—it required trusted local facilitation and cultural navigation.
Our Task
Akuntsu collaborated with and supported seven international pavilion projects—at various stages from RFP participation to operational supports. Our role was to identify and connect each team with trusted Japanese partners (or vice versa), including suppliers, production companies, and operations experts. We facilitated introductions, bridged communication gaps, and guided relationship-building efforts across language and business culture differences. While not all teams secured the contracts, our facilitation helped lay the groundwork for successful, efficient partnerships and bid submissions. For awarded teams, we offer operational supports as Expo 2025 approaches—ensuring international participants can confidently deliver within the Japanese event landscape.
