Japan Integrated Resorts – Creative Partnership Facilitation
Challenge
As Sega Sammy prepared its bid to secure a government-issued casino license for a new Integrated Resort (IR) in Yokohama, it sought to differentiate its proposal with a strong cultural and entertainment offering. Meanwhile, Lune Rouge Entertainment—an innovative creative company founded by Cirque du Soleil’s founder—was looking to enter the Japanese market. The challenge was to form a meaningful partnership that could bring immersive, world-class entertainment to the proposed IR, from public spectacles to permanent theatrical experiences.
Our Task
Akuntsu was brought in to facilitate the partnership between Lune Rouge Entertainment and Sega Sammy. We helped shape the creative vision, align cultural and business expectations, and support the development of a potential entertainment program for the Yokohama IR concept. As a pilot initiative, a special outdoor dance and drone show, “The Infinity Ball”, was produced in Yokohama under Lune Rouge’s creative direction to showcase the collaborative potential. Although the IR project was ultimately discontinued due to a change in Yokohama’s political leadership, our facilitation introduced Lune Rouge Entertainment to the Japanese market for the first time—successfully laying the foundation for future opportunities and demonstrating the power of creative diplomacy in high-stakes development projects.
