Asian Anime IPs – International Development & Experience Facilitation

Challenge
With global interest in anime, manga, and game IPs skyrocketing—especially during the COVID-19 lockdown—Japanese companies began actively exploring new international business opportunities. However, cultural and operational differences between Japan and Western markets posed a major hurdle. Business development processes, production timelines, and relationship-building approaches differ significantly, making it difficult for Japanese rights holders to launch sustainable, long-term global models like touring shows or international licensing for IP-based events.
Our Task
Akuntsu supported Japanese event companies such as Sony Music Solutions in bridging this cultural and operational divide. We facilitated relationships with international promoters, assembled trusted creative teams, and helped shape and launch successful anime-themed live experiences—including orchestra concerts, multimedia shows, and exhibitions. Our role was to build trust, align expectations, and guide cross-cultural collaboration at every stage—from ideation and rights discussions to production and delivery. Through this work, we’ve helped Japanese IPs reach new audiences across 4 continents while setting the stage for more scalable, globally minded entertainment ventures.

Whether you’re exploring new markets or building your next big idea, we’re here to help you go global—with purpose, clarity, and the right partners. Reach out and let’s start the conversation.
